the amnesiac is

on watching the night
close its eyes on you,
I only know beauty;
maybe Anne Sexton was on to something
& for the woman shamed,
arise and breathe. Seabones
with taciturn eyes
after we lost him:
mermaid thirst for
cruelest love.

What I touch becomes
unwell. I wear my hair
like it pains me,

sucking her teeth
at cars, the caked little
tombs of sugar that crumble,
naked
under the hot milk
of the sun.

Just a quick observation, I believe you meant 'was on to something' in your second stanza.
